Borders gives schools free gift cards worth $15
The much discussed documentary "Waiting for Superman," which offers a harsh portrait of the country's public schools, has inspired a promotional collaboration among the Borders Group superstore chain, an education fundraiser and the publisher of the movie's companion book.
On Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, any Borders customer making an in-store purchase, whether of a book or a bagel or a latte, will receive a $15 gift card to donate to a public school of choice through DonorsChoose.org, an Internet-based charity.
Anyone purchasing the book "Waiting for 'Superman': How We Can Save America's Failing Public Schools" will receive a second $15 card. The companion text was published by PublicAffairs, part of the Perseus Books Group, which along with Borders and DonorsChoose.org announced the campaign Sunday.
For all questions related to this offer, you must contact Borders directly.

i wouldnt spend the card on books i would spend them on coffee or cds. hahah not books like the school would want me to.
That was a nice thing for them to do. It was also nice because it was for a good cause and not to just give them out to just anyone.
It's a good thing that Borders encouraging school reading and education with gift cards. If every student could just purchase one book or something from the cafe then just think of how much money the school would receive. The gift cards could go towards improving the school library. It could help with reports or every day reading. Borders generous gift card donations to schools is only one of the many generous donations that will help to improve American education.
On Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, Borders customers received a $15 gift card to donate to a public school of choice, for any purchase made inside their store. They also gave a second $15 card to anyone who purchased the specific book “Waiting for 'Superman': How We Can Save America's Failing Public Schools".
That seemed like a pretty nice donation to support the schools. If I knew about it earlier, I could have gotten a gift certificate for my school, but I read about it too late. I think it’s a good way to support schools and they always need the money. I saw a documentary and discussion last week called “Race to Nowhere” which is also about education, but it is from a different point of view than “Waiting for Superman” Both show problems in the schools, but one is from the point of view of more wealthy schools and one is from the point of view of poor schools. Either way they all have some problems that need to be changed.
it would help if borders gave schools all over the world gift cards it would be good because we could get more books in the libraries of schools and it would provide more nolage for kids in those schools.
I think its cool that Borders is giving $15 on December 14th & 15th and to any school of your choice. Its a good thing because schools and libraries need more books.
I think that it is a nice thing that borders is giving schools a $15.00 gift card to buy books at their store. If i got a gift card i would try and get as many books as i could. I wouldn't want to spend it on anything else at their store.
