State crews in Indiana have put up "Turtle Crossing" signs along a busy road. It runs beside a wildlife area in Terre Haute.

The signs mark an area where turtles are killed by vehicles. They are hit as they try to cross a road. The road is on the edge of the Wabashiki Fish and Wildlife Area.

Amber Slaughterbeck of the Vigo County parks department said she first noticed the turtle problem in 2009. At the time, she was a student at nearby St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. She found dead turtles all over the road.

"It was like a massacre of these turtles. So I pulled my car over and started walking along the guardrail," she said. "I thought I would save just a few turtles and see where it goes. I came back the next day and the next day and realized that there were a lot of turtles to be saved."

Slaughterbeck and volunteers have moved more than 2,000 turtles from the roadside. The turtles are taken to a nearby lake.

The state of Indiana is looking for ways to protect the reptiles. In the future, money may be raised for fencing and tunnels.

"We ideally would like a tunnel big enough to allow the river otters, the beavers and all the other animals to cross underneath," said Indiana Department of Transportation spokeswoman Debbie Calder.

The story was about turtles that live in the wildlife area in Indiana . They need help to get to the other side of a busy road. A lot of turtles are getting killed by crossing the road. They put up a turtle crossing sign hoping people will slow down for the turles. They want to raise money for tunnels and fencing so the turtles are protected.

They want the drivers to slow down for the turtles so they can cross the busy highway in Indiana. There are a lot of turtles there because they live in the Wabashiki Wildlife Area near the road. They put up turtle crossing signs and they are planning to raise money for fencing and tunnels. I hope it helps because I hate to see all the turtles to get killed.

This Story Is About A Lady Named Amber She Was In College At The Time And She Was Driving And She Saw A Whole Bunch Of Dead Turtles Among the Road Of A Busy Rode . And She Felt Bad And Hurt SO She Wanted To Save Them So She Had Someone Put Up The Sign But She Wants To Build A Tunnel For The Animals To Walk To The River Without Having To Be Killed While Trying To get To The River . I Do Think It Is Smart Of Her To Do That Because No And Days People Don't Care If They Run Over An Animal They Will Keep Driving And Wont Stop To Help the Animal Or Anything So What They Amber Did Is Really Nice And I'm Glad Someone Stopped To Think About Those Poor Animals Getting Killed For no Reason .

The teen problem and the turtle problem are alike because in the teen problem they had to swim to get to school. they had no transportation. And the turtles problem was they was to much transportation and turtles were getting killed and people kept trying to make things better and help them survive. Or there population will decrease.

The teen and the animal story's are slimier because both were not living a good life. The teens have to swim to school and they had know transpiration . The turtles are getting killed when they cross the street and every time the they cross the street the turtles population is decreasing .

It's obvious that people are not really careful when they are driving. They go anywhere they want to, and does not see if there is a small creature or a small dangerous object near their car. Besides, turtles will go extinct if people don't watch what they are doing. So I think that making the sign that says " Turtle Crossing " is appropriate to use when drivers are driving. Plus, I think that people should make a sign that says " Be careful wherever you go, even where you park your car at home! It is the law!!!! ". ( If they make that kind of sign, the United States will learn how to control themselves and more be more cautious every time. ) It is always important to save and are for all the animals because if all the animals are going extinct, we might not have food, clothes, shelter, or help. It is always important to save our planet.
